- Determine Your Certification Status Upon Passing the Exam:
- Active Status: For contractors performing HVAC or Refrigeration work. Requires a business name and a $20,000 performance bond. The annual fee is $220.
- Inactive Status: For individuals not currently performing HVAC or Refrigeration work but wishing to hold a contractor certification. No bond is required. The annual fee is $110.
- Apply for Licensure:
- Online Profile: Create an online profile to expedite your application. Ensure you have your performance bond, business information, and corporation documents ready for upload in .pdf, .jpg, .gif, or .tiff formats.
- By Mail: Download and complete forms AL-1, AL-2, and BF-1. Submit them via email to applications@hacr.alabama.gov. A 4% service fee applies to credit card payments. Certified checks or money orders should be payable to the "State of Alabama."
- Licensure by Reciprocity (If Applicable):
- If you hold a current and valid license with reciprocating states such as Mississippi, Tennessee, Ohio, South Carolina, West Virginia, or Louisiana, you may apply via reciprocity.
